There’s A War Going On In Our Minds

Welcome ladies to day one of our Battlefield Of The Mind Study. I am so excited to be taking this journey with all of you ladies and having the opportunity to be giving the devil a run for his money for a change!

I have notice there’s a lot to cover in these chapters so I ask that you go at your own pace so you can really absorb everything that God is trying to show you.

Also you will need to have your Bible because there are a lot of Bible verses that will help you in defeating our enemy (devil) on a daily basis.

There’s a lot to be learned and a lot to be covered as we go through this study and I pray that you are ready to take on the devil and get back control of our minds.

Chapter One: “The Mind Is the Battlefield”

There are four main factors were going to be looking at today and they are:

1.) We need to understand who is are enemy and who is not our enemy?

2.) We need to understand who the devil is and how he works to destroy us?

3.) What are strongholds and how to tear them down?

4.) What are our weapons that we can use against the devil when we come up against him?

As much as we like to think that our other fellow human beings are our enemies they are not. They may sometimes feel like it but in reality it’s the devil we are wrestling with on a daily basis. In the Bible we will find this to be true: This is not a wrestling match against a human opponent. We are wrestling with rulers, authorities, the powers who govern this world of darkness, and spiritual forces that control evil in the heavenly world. Ephesians 6:12 (GW)

Now for some of you this might be a hard concept to understand because in the moment when we are in a heated argument with someone we see them in the flesh and blood and not as some evil force we fighting with. But we got to remember the devil uses us humans if we allow him to, to do his evil work for him through us. So as much as someone may feel like our enemies they are not and the devil is. Our war is with the devil and not the person who is coming up against us.

For us to better understand how our fellow human beings are not our enemies we need to really see the devil for who he is and really understand how he works. In the Bible it tells us the devil is the father of all lies, he is crafty and he’s out to devour us if we are not careful. In order for the devil to carry out his plan he has to convince us of some things of not only of ourselves, but of others and of God too. And just how does he do this? It all starts in our minds with him whispering all kinds of crazy lies about ourselves, others and God.

Joyce Myers tells us in her book: “That Satan does not however, tell us the entire lie all at one time. That he has studied us for a long time. That he is willing to invest any amount of time it takes to defeat us. And that one of his strong points is patience.” I find it funny how the devil has more patience than some of us have sometimes to carry out what he needs to get done. We tend to live on wanting getting everything done instantly.

If there’s anything we can learn from the devil that is if we want to defeat him we are going to need lots of patients too, that everything takes time and we have to study what it is that we are trying to do. In this case it’s our minds that we are trying to get back in control of from the devil!

One key thing to remember about the devil is that just like God there is nothing hidden from the devil about us. He knows every little tiny itsy-bitsy detail about us and he will use that against us to doubt ourselves, others and God too. Where as God uses what He knows about us for our greater good and His.

So just how does the devil accomplish all of this? By “attempting to set up strongholds in our minds.”

For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

In order for us to understand this passage we need to first look at some key points here:

1.) We are not waging a war according to the flesh.

2.) Our weapons of our Spiritual Warfare are not to be use against the flesh but are to be used to destroy strongholds.

3.) It’s up to us to take these weapons that God gives us and use them to destroy every argument and lofty opinion that comes against the knowledge of God.

4.) The most important thing we are to do is to take every thought that comes into our mind that does not line up with the the Word of God and throw it out. We do this by taking the devil’s lies that he tries to feed us and replace it with God’s truth. Basically in with the truth out with the lie.

I would ask that if you are a newbie in the Christian faith or if you are long time running Christian that you do more of a in depth study on: What is Spiritual Warfare? And what are strongholds? So you can better understand what you are up against not in only in the mind but on a daily basis.

This was one study I found online that had some great info on strongholds: He says that: “The Nature of a Stronghold is wrong or false thinking” And that: “The Mind is the neutral ground, the place where the battles begin, and are ultimately won or lost!” There is some other great tidbits that you may like too.

So, how do we start tearing down these strongholds? By renewing our minds.

The Bible tells us: Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants—what is good, pleasing, and perfect. Romans 12:2 (GW)

We can have victory over Satan lies by doing the will of God and obeying His commandments and not our will.

Peter and the other apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than people. Acts 5:29 (GW)

If you love me, you will obey my commandments. John 14:15 (GW)

Joyce Myers says: “ Our weapons are the Word used in various ways. We can pray the Word, speak the Word, sing the Word and study the Word.” It’s imperative that we always fight the devil by using God’s Word against him!

Ladies it’s imperative for our walk in Christ and for our Spiritual growth that we continue to study His Word!

So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them, you are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free. (GW)

Ladies in order for us to know the real truth we must let the Holy Spirit reveal the truth to us by spending time in His Word. Which requires us to make an effort that no matter what we will sit with Him on a daily basis.

So place yourselves under God’s authority. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you. James 4:7 (GW)

Remember God always gives a way out: There isn’t any temptation that you have experienced which is unusual for humans. God, who faithfully keeps his promises, will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power to resist. But when you are tempted, he will also give you the ability to endure the temptation as your way of escape.

Joyce Myers tell us: “ That Satan knows well that if he can control our thoughts, he can control our actions.”

For myself I know how true this statement is. For thirty-four and half years the devil had free rein on my mind and boy did he ever have a field day with not only with my actions but with my emotions too!

When I became a follower of Christ two years ago the devil tried to use my past, my husband and God to control my thoughts and actions. It has been a slow process but as I spend more time with God the more strongholds are being broken and I’m being set free! Take that devil!

Ladies if you have the study guide please answer the questions that go along with today’s chapter. It will help you to gain more insight on how to use scripture in your daily life and win the battle in your mind! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions that you may have. God Bless To All…..

  1. The one thing I loved about this first chapter is the last paragraph, “You may have some major strongholds in your life that need to be broken. Let me encourage you by saying, “God is on your side.” There is a war going on, and your mind is the battlefield. But the good news is that God is fighting on your side.” How amazing and wonderful is that!!! No matter what we know that God wins in the end! We just need to abide in His Word and in Him and endure…fight the good fight! The fight against evil, against the true enemy, Satan, not people. Love this entry sis! I just printed out the study guide I will be working on it tonight. 🙂 Love ya!
