Think About What You’re Thinking About”

Chapter 7: “I Need To Change The Way I Think”

How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.

He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. The wicked are not like this; instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away. Psalm 1:1-4 (HSCB)

“The more time a persons spends mediating on the Word, the more he will reap from the Word.” Joyce Myers

He went on to say, “Pay attention to what you’re listening to! Knowledge will be measured out to you by the measure of attention you give. This is the way knowledge increases. Mark 4:24 (GW)

“What a great Scripture! It tells us that the more time we spend thinking about the Word we read and hear, the more power and ability we will have to do it—the more revelation knowledge we will have about what we have read or heard.

Basically this tells us that we will get from the Word of God what we put into it. Notice especially the promise that the amount of thought and study we devote to the Word will determine the amount of virtue and knowledge that will come back to us.

Vine’s An Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words says that in certain Scriptures of the King James Version the Greek word dunamis meaning “power” is translated “virtue.

According to The New Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, another translation of dunamis is”ability.” Most people do not delve into the Word of God very deeply. As a result, they get confused about why they are not powerful Christians living victorious lives.” Joyce Myers

Ladies it imperative that as much as possible that we are putting all we can into studying His Word. I have a hard time keeping my nose more in the Bible and doing less of other things.

I am guilty as charge on this and I am trying to make some efforts to change this. I love to skim Bible verses here and there but read a whole chapter I do not do. I have tried to read more of the Bible and one way I try to do this is by reading five Psalm and one Proverb a day.

I have notice when I am in His Word what difference it makes in my walk with Christ. My whole attitude toward others and things is different. I am able to discern things better by letting the Holy Spirit lead, instead of myself acting like a mad woman. If I step away from not spending time with Him and I become a stumbling and bumbling fool.

One day while I was studying His word, God laid something on my heart that ties in with what Joyce Myers said “what we put in the Word is what we got of it”, He reminded me that what we put into God is what we will get out of God.

We cannot expect something from God when we have not put any investment into God. Now that does not mean His blessing will stop, it just means our growing and maturing is halted. We become like a frozen Christian going through the emotions and never seeing no results.

In order for the Holy Spirit to help us grow, mature us and perfect us we need His Word to guide us, so we can work together with Him.

His Word is our GPS in this world without it who knows where we may end up or what we might say or do. Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path. Psalm 119:105 (HSCB)

Not only do we need to stay in His word but really ponder what we are reading too. Asking ourselves questions like: How does this pertain to me? How can I use what I learn today in my daily routines? What does this mean to me?

Remember: All of us once lived among these people, and followed the desires of our corrupt nature. We did what our corrupt desires and thoughts wanted us to do. So, because of our nature, we deserved God’s anger just like everyone else. Ephesians 2:3 (GW)

It’s imperative that we: Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants—what is good, pleasing, and perfect. Romans 12:2 (GW)

Remember we are to: Finally, brothers and sisters, keep your thoughts on whatever is right or deserves praise: things that are true, honorable, fair, pure, acceptable, or commendable. Philippians 4:8

“You should take inventory on a regular basis and ask yourself, “What have I been thinking about?” Spend some time examining your thought life.

Thinking about what you’re thinking about is very valuable because Satan usually deceives people into thinking that the source of their misery or trouble is something other than what it really is.

He wants them to think they are unhappy due to what is going on around them (their circumstances), but the misery is actually due to what is going on inside them (their thoughts).” Joyce Myers

Ladies I have a challenge for you starting today let’s try to read one Chapter in the Bible a day. Pick whatever book in the Bible you want to start with and read it once everyday until it’s finish and start again.

Remember in order for us to defeat the devil we need God’s Word in us and to get God’s Word in us we need to spend daily time in His Word. So that not only is our thinking lining up with God’s truths but also we are able to shoot back at the devil with God’s truth too.

Ladies if you have the study guide please answer the questions that goes with today’s chapter.

Please feel free to leave any comments or questions that you may have. I also would love to hear what chapter you have decided to start reading. God Bless To All….
